Suze Rotolo about Bob Dylan: He had a touch of arrogance, a good dose of paranoia, and a wonderful sense of the absurd.
I like that.

You are The Hermit

Prudence, Caution, Deliberation.

The Hermit points to all things hidden, such as knowledge and inspiration, hidden enemies. The illumination is from within, and retirement from participation in current events.

The Hermit is a card of introspection, analysis and, well, virginity. You do not desire to socialize; the card indicates, instead, a desire for peace and solitude. You prefer to take the time to think, organize, ruminate, take stock. There may be feelings of frustration and discontent but these feelings eventually lead to enlightenment, illumination, clarity.

The Hermit represents a wise, inspirational person, friend, teacher, therapist. This a person who can shine a light on things that were previously mysterious and confusing.

I got Together Through Life yesterday! :)

Read Coraline, and then accidentally bought The Graveyard Book. I have a strange feeling that Neil Gaiman is much better at writing for children than for adults. I've read some of his short stories, and they were either interesting or failed to impress me, but Coraline was very very wonderful, and I'm enjoying The Graveyard Book so far.

Watched the third episode of La Chica de Ayer. I like how they took the original stories and added certain touches of their own. For example, there is no Test Card Girl, the father of the main hero appears already in the second episode, Quin, unlike Gene, instead of just being physically violent, mostly prefers to smile in a very unnerving way and from time to time shout at people... And so far it has been good enough for me not to mind the horrible length of the episodes (they last 1:20 each).

When I put my The Band CDs in the disc drive, I discovered thanks to windows media player that most songs had at least two authors: J. R. Robertson and Robbie Robertson. What an interesting collaboration xD

I don't think I will watch Party Animals to the end. I like the way they show politics and the characters' work, and I like several characters (and Matt Smith and Andrea Riseborough are great actors; also, he's adorable and she's beautiful), but the whole thing is too soapy and I'm irritated to no end by Scott and Sophie (I'm not sure whether the actors are just that bad or the characters themselves are boring).

I watched first episode of series four of The Sweeney yesterday. Messenger of the Gods. It was interesting. At times it tried too hard for my liking to be a comedy, but mostly it was ok.

I spent a week or two or so (I'm not sure) with pains in various parts of my body and going to sleep each night feeling afraid that I might not wake up, but I seem to be getting better. I understand that whatever might be wrong with me is definitely not connected to heart, although could be an ulcer, and most probably comes from nerves, and I was more or less talked into going to see a doctor. In fact, even two doctors :)

I'm sort of considering buying a flat instead of the one I'm renting. Because the current place I live in doesn't feel like one I'd like to go on living in for a long time, more like something to inhabit temporarily and then move on. The problem is, of course, that, even though the prices have dropped, it's still a lot of money and the thought of having to take a loan from the bank and then paying for thirty years doesn't make me very happy. And (this is how I am) there is something nice about not owning the place that you live in.

The more I see of (new Doctor Who) Matt Smith, the more I like him. Because first I just saw the pictures and thought he had an interesting face, and then started seeing him in action, and thought that I quite like him as an actor.
He's nice in Moses Jones (not a very big part, but still nice), and yesterday I started watching The Ruby in the Smoke where he's adorable (although, of course, what I love the most about the movie is Robert Glenister with fake sideburns and a warm smile that seems to say that he's definitely one of the bad guys; the rest doesn't really excite me).
And then there's this. It's a deleted scene from In Bruges, where Matt Smith is playing Ralph Fiennes's character in a flashback, and it's black humor with blood and cutting a policeman's head off in broad daylight.
Now, don't get mad, but I think I just beheaded your detective. :p

Jan. 23rd, 2009

This whole week I've been trying to get myself to wake up and get up earlier. I slept in horribly on Tuesday, and next two days I got up just in time to get dressed and run out. Today I at least got up early enough to have time for breakfast.
Ironically, I felt the best on Tuesday, when I woke up at half past 9. Today I forced myself to get out of bed around 7, and now I feel as if I were too badly glued together and falling to pieces.
I found this article on wikipedia about Delayed sleep phase syndrome. Definitely sounds familiar.

Attempting to force oneself onto daytime society's schedule with DSPS has been compared to constantly living with 6 hours of jet lag; the disorder has, in fact, been referred to as "social jet lag". Often, sufferers manage only a few hours sleep a night during the working week, then compensate by sleeping until the afternoon on weekends. Sleeping in on weekends, and/or taking long naps during the day, may give people with the disorder relief from daytime sleepiness but may also perpetuate the late sleep phase.

People with DSPS tend to be extreme night owls. They feel most alert and say they function best and are most creative in the evening and at night. DSPS patients cannot simply force themselves to sleep early. They may toss and turn for hours in bed, and sometimes not sleep at all, before reporting to work or school.
